WHAT'S NEW

15 November, 1999

Hello Beaded Bag Knitters. Thanks for your patience with waiting for the next update to the "What's New" page. I previously stated that I would try to update this page as often as possible, does this count as "often".

For a little update on the cats. I now have 4! Yes, 4 it is kind of a sad story of how I got the 4th one, but his name is Romeo and he is a pure-bred Blue Point Himalayan. He is a real beautiful cat and his personality is so laid back. He is a minority with all the high strung females (Euphy, Cleo and China) around here (me included).

Okay, that little digression has nothing to do with beads, so....back to the art of beaded knitting. I have been busy in these past few months. I have been working on a series of new necklace purse patterns and have been creating simple patterns for beginners. They are coming along but are not ready yet. I think in at least 2 weeks, that way if you want to create a purse for the New Year's Celebrations, you will still have enough time to knit.

I placed my first ad in Bead and Button, December 1999. I'm way in the back, in the classified section, but I am there. So if you have your magazine, look me up. What do you think of my new logo? Do you think it suits the style of bags? It is really hard to find an acceptable, clean, clear image that has not been used before. I hope I found it. The logo was derived from an antique hat pin that a friend gave to me.

For a little bit of sad news, I will be removing the vintage purse frames from the site. I only have a few left of each style and now is the time to take them off. There are more "new" antique frames coming out now. If you look in this month's Bead and Button you will see an ad for Lady Delight beaded knitted purse and beautiful Art Deco frame. It comes in antiqued silver, gold and sterling silver. The frame is worth every single penny that it costs. It is an investment-- a beautiful one at that.

The best new I left for last. I have been chosen as an instructor at BEAD RETREAT: 2000. I am teaching classes for beginner's, intermediate and advanced beaded knitters. I have created 2 necklace purses for the beginner's classes, a small framed change purse for the intermediate and the last class you will learn the pattern to knit a purse for the new gate-top purse frames that are now on the market. This class will use Czech three cuts (sparkly beads) and have lots of fringes and a tassel. (This is my favorite purse so far).

The retreat is being held in Gatlinburg, Tennessee on February 23 -27, 2000 and all the information can be located on the link below.

If you have any questions, please contact me and if I do not know the answer, then I will ask Lora Anderson, the retreat co-ordinator.

I look forward to seeing everybody there and hope that some of you could attend. If you are please let me know. I am so excited to be able to go. I have not been to Tennessee before and I am eagerly awaiting the Tennessee Vacation Guide to give me more information.

Oh, one last thing, I have just found a source for more hex cut beads (used in Valentine's Day, Black Beauty and Czarina's Bag). They have black, colour-lined lavender/crystal AB beads, pewter, grey lined clear....... These beads are wonderful and I am looking forward to getting them soon.

Thanks again for all your support and compliments on my beaded bags.

If you have any questions, concerns, comments or suggestions please email me or drop me a line. I always look forward to getting letters and email.

Take care, Tanya, Euphrates, Cleopatra, China, Romeo and Bob (the bird).

I would like to welcome you to The Beaded Bag Collection website. I've been wanting to add this feature "What's New" for a long time. Now, finally, I have been able get to my Webmaster's house and get the page created! I will be updating this page every once in a while to let you know the latest news with all things related to beaded knitted (and sometimes about what my three cats Euphy, Cleo, and China have done....take for instance today, Euphy caught a live mole! I got it away from her and the mole lived....but I digress!) New beaded purse pattern styles, new beaded knitting supplies, upcoming classes, favorite links and other things will be posted here.

The past few months have been really exciting and busy for me. I was asked to be the June Featured Artist for Caron Threads located in Conneticut. I designed a free drawstring pouch pattern, wrote a brief description of the basics of beaded knittings, and was featured in an article called "Celebrations", telling about what women create for their loved ones for special occasions. Please email me for the links. They have also asked me to design a second purse and that will be featured sometime in the year 2000. As well I have been working on a new line of patterns and revising the older patterns. I hope to have the new patterns completed and online by mid-October. To give you a little information on the new pattern line, there are a few drawstring pouch purses, a few designs that will work with different sized purse frames and a wonderful "creation" for the new gate-top purse frame that is now available (I will be offering reproduction purse frames and the new gate-tops, on the website in September). I have fallen in love with the gate-tops.

Please email me if you have any questions, concerns, ideas or favorite beaded knitting links you would like to see posted here. I hope the beaded knitted muse is with you and I look forward to hearing from you.
