Heather Chapman, was born and educated in Toronto, Ontario, where she received a diploma in Design and Fashion at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute. In 1984 she moved to Vancouver, British Columbia, where she continued her artistic pursuits with indepth training at Capilano College and the Emily Carr College of Art and Design.

Heather Chapman chose pottery as her medium because it best reflected who she is: "Working with clay links the earthiness within me to the natural world." She works primarily in Raku (which means "enjoyment" in Japanese). This medium brings spontaneous and immediate feedback. Heather has been creating raku pottery since 1990 and continues to delight in the results. Her designs are both traditional and contemporary, capturing the joy and pleasure of her work! Each piece is an individual work of art carefully crafted and beautifully fired.

Heather, a member of the British Columbia Potters Guild, is presently living in Maple Ridge where she is a member of the arts community. Her work is displayed at numerous outlets across Canada and in Singapore, China. Her art work is featured in private collections throughout the world.
